Our most frequently asked questions
A direct cremation is a dignified and uncomplicated alternative to a traditional funeral. It takes place without a service beforehand and without mourners present, offering you an opportunity to host your own private and personal farewell at a time convenient to you. The cremation is carried out with the utmost respect and professionalism, just without the formalities or additional elements of a full ceremony.
A direct cremation is where the deceased is cremated with no one present other than the crematorium staff. There is no requirement for a hearse, premium coffins, or officiants, as mourners aren’t there to view the ceremony. Traditional funerals can involve additional costs such as flowers, venues and service arrangements.
We include everything needed for a dignified and caring cremation.
- Collection of the deceased
- A standard, sustainable coffin
- Care at our dedicated facilities
- The cremation
- Scattering of ashes at the crematorium
Collection, delivery of the ashes, and memorial options are available at an additional cost, however, our service covers all of the necessities for a respectful, dignified and peaceful direct cremation.
To keep a direct cremation at an affordable price, mourners aren’t able to attend the cremation or visit the crematorium. This doesn’t mean you aren’t able to have your own service at a later date. Many families are deciding to have a personalised service weeks or months following the direct cremation to allow them to move through their bereavement.
As part of a Willow Cremations service, your loved ones ashes will be scattered at one of our crematoria.
To offer flexibility, you can opt for delivery or collection. An additional fee will apply. No matter what option you decide, our teams are here to support you with care, dignity and professionalism.
Willow Cremations made such a difficult time easier, the online form was easy to follow and the team I spoke to who arranged the collection of my husband were empathetic and really understanding. I feel no part of the experience compromised the care my husband received.
